Musical Monday: Michelle Smith

Welcome to the second installment of Musical Monday! Every Monday I will feature a book and the music that inspired it! This is an awesome opportunity to showcase your book and also inspire other writers looking for new music. In case you missed it, last week's post can be found here.

Today on the blog, we have the fabulous author Michelle Smith!

Name: Michelle Smith

Book: Kingdom Come
Coming out May 22 2013

Genre: YA Apocalyptic (Sci-fi)

Michelle also provided some brilliant insight to some of the songs she listed on her playlist. Here are her thoughts on why she added some of the songs she did for Kingdom Come:

"Demons" by Imagine Dragons is what I consider to be the theme song for the book.

"The Ruler and the Killer" just screams Bennett to me. While editing his scenes, I play this and Fall Out Boy on repeat.

"Your Guardian Angel" and "All We Are": both of these capture the relationship between Kerrigan and Ethan perfectly.

Michelle's a lover of love and all things happy. She laughs way too much (sometimes at things that aren’t even funny), is a complete sap, and will try to convince you that Harry Potter isn’t just a book series, but a way of life.

After studying at East Carolina University, she ran away to Florida with her Coastie husband. She now lives in North Carolina with the devilishly handsome Coastie, a son who inherited her creative streak, and crazy border collie mix.

Hi Guys!

I have some exciting news! I'm sure you already know that I intern with Entangled Publishing. Well, this last week I talked with the lovely Georgia McBride from Month 9 Books and Swoon Romance, and I've accepted a publicity internship with Swoon Romance!

In case you're not familiar with them, Month 9 Books is a YA and MG imprint and Swoon Romance is a romance publisher for adult, new adult, and young adult books and novellas. I'm so excited to come aboard and help out, as I really respect Month 9 and Swoon Romance.

*does happy dance*

That is all.

Okay bye.

  • Possession from the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix soundtrack
  • The Half Killed from the Atonement Soundtrack
  • Prepared to do Anything from the Sherlock Season two soundtrack
  • Immolation from the Angels and Demons soundtrack

Musical Mondays

Hi Guys,

I have an exciting announcement!

I'm starting a new blog feature called "Musical Mondays." Every Monday I will feature a playlist an author made while writing a specific book. This is an awesome opportunity to showcase your book and also inspire other writers looking for new music.

I welcome any traditionally published authors and self-published authors. I also welcome authors not yet published as long as you have a finished manuscript, a polished book blurb, and a place where readers can find out a little more about you or your writing.

If you're interested, please shoot me an email at: jolene.haley(@)gmail(.com) <-Just remove parenthesis

This is the information I'll need from you:

1. Your name.

2. Name of the Book, Genre, and pub date (past or future, if at all).

3. Links you want me to include. This could be the Goodreads, Amazon, feature on your personal website, wherever you're selling it, or if you're in the middle of a blog tour we can feature a list of where your blog stop tours have been.

4. Your list of songs for your playlist (if you already have them compiled in a playlist or have the links, go ahead and send them over. If they aren't already compiled, I can put them together if you tell me the exact song information.

5. If you have any commentary as to why each song, commentary on the feel or mood of the music, etc., feel free to let me know and I'll include it. Otherwise, I'll just post the songs.

6. Author information, bio, social media links, and pic (if you want that included).

7. Extras if you so desire. If you want me to include any extras such as a chapter excerpt, etc. I'm happy to.

8. Two different Monday dates you'd like to see it up (in case one is already taken).

Alright. I think that covers it. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hope to feature your book soon!

Cover Reveal: The Liberator by Victoria Scott

So excited to help reveal Victoria Scott's cover for her new novel The Liberator!

Feel free to oogle it with me. Hehe. I didn't think she'd be able to top the sexy cover of The Collector, but methinks I may have been wrong...

Is it too brazen to say, "I'd like him to Liberate me?"

Add this bad boy to Goodreads, you wont regret it.

Ways to Live a Better Life

I started thinking today about something. If 80-year-old me was trying to give advice to me today on how to live a better life, what types of tips would I be lending? What sage words could I supply?

So I thought and thought and came up with these ways to live a better life.

What advice would you offer yourself?

Waiting on Wednesday: Weather Witch by Shannon Delany

Waiting on Wednesday is an awesome weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Basically, we fan-girl (or fan-boy) over an upcoming release. This one was SO easy for me.

Weather Witch by Shannon Delany

Weather Witch release date: June 25th, 2013
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
What's it about according to Goodreads: In a vastly different and darker Philadelphia of 1844, steam power has been repressed, war threatens from deep, dark waters, and one young lady of high social standing is expecting a surprise at her seventeenth birthday party–but certainly not the one she gets!

Jordan Astraea, who has lived out all of her life in Philadelphia’s most exclusive neighborhood, is preparing to celebrate her birthday with friends, family and all the extravagance they might muster. The young man who is most often her dashing companion, Rowen Burchette, has told her a surprise awaits her and her best friend, Catrina Hollindale, wouldn’t miss this night for all the world!

But storm clouds are gathering and threatening to do far more than dampen her party plans because someone in the Astraea household has committed the greatest of social sins by Harboring a Weather Witch.

Shannon is also doing a call for anyone who might want to get involved. Find out how you can help spread the word about Weather Witch

What do you think? What books are you excited for?
