Musical Monday: Michelle Smith

Welcome to the second installment of Musical Monday! Every Monday I will feature a book and the music that inspired it! This is an awesome opportunity to showcase your book and also inspire other writers looking for new music. In case you missed it, last week's post can be found here.

Today on the blog, we have the fabulous author Michelle Smith!

Name: Michelle Smith

Book: Kingdom Come
Coming out May 22 2013

Genre: YA Apocalyptic (Sci-fi)

Michelle also provided some brilliant insight to some of the songs she listed on her playlist. Here are her thoughts on why she added some of the songs she did for Kingdom Come:

"Demons" by Imagine Dragons is what I consider to be the theme song for the book.

"The Ruler and the Killer" just screams Bennett to me. While editing his scenes, I play this and Fall Out Boy on repeat.

"Your Guardian Angel" and "All We Are": both of these capture the relationship between Kerrigan and Ethan perfectly.

Michelle's a lover of love and all things happy. She laughs way too much (sometimes at things that aren’t even funny), is a complete sap, and will try to convince you that Harry Potter isn’t just a book series, but a way of life.

After studying at East Carolina University, she ran away to Florida with her Coastie husband. She now lives in North Carolina with the devilishly handsome Coastie, a son who inherited her creative streak, and crazy border collie mix.

I hope you guys enjoyed checking out the music that inspired Kingdom Come. Let me know in the comments what your favorite song was. Or if you have any suggestions for Michelle's playlist, let us know!

And if you'd like your book to be featured with your playlist, check out the information I'd need from you and then send an email to jolene.haley(@)(gmail.com) <-without parenthesis. I welcome any traditional published authors, self or indie published authors, and even unpublished authors as long as you have a finished manuscript. All genres are happily accepted!

Happy Musical Monday!

Musical Monday: Donna Hosie

This is what Donna had to say about her soundtrack of choice for The Return to Camelot Trilogy:

"My writing playlist is based entirely on soundtracks. I find instrumental music incredibly inspiring. Because I write about knights and battles and loss, I find that the following really gets me in the mood:

• Possession from the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix soundtrack
• The Half Killed from the Atonement Soundtrack
• Prepared to do Anything from the Sherlock Season two soundtrack
• Immolation from the Angels and Demons soundtrack
• Over Hill from The Hobbit Soundtrack
• The Car Chase from the A Beautiful Mind soundtrack
• The Titanic soundtrack (guilty pleasure)
• Adagio for Strings."

Musical Mondays

Hi Guys,

I have an exciting announcement!

I'm starting a new blog feature called "Musical Mondays." Every Monday I will feature a playlist an author made while writing a specific book. This is an awesome opportunity to showcase your book and also inspire other writers looking for new music.

I welcome any traditionally published authors and self-published authors. I also welcome authors not yet published as long as you have a finished manuscript, a polished book blurb, and a place where readers can find out a little more about you or your writing.

If you're interested, please shoot me an email at: jolene.haley(@)gmail(.com) <-Just remove parenthesis

This is the information I'll need from you:

1. Your name.

2. Name of the Book, Genre, and pub date (past or future, if at all).

3. Links you want me to include. This could be the Goodreads, Amazon, feature on your personal website, wherever you're selling it, or if you're in the middle of a blog tour we can feature a list of where your blog stop tours have been.

4. Your list of songs for your playlist (if you already have them compiled in a playlist or have the links, go ahead and send them over. If they aren't already compiled, I can put them together if you tell me the exact song information.

5. If you have any commentary as to why each song, commentary on the feel or mood of the music, etc., feel free to let me know and I'll include it. Otherwise, I'll just post the songs.

6. Author information, bio, social media links, and pic (if you want that included).

7. Extras if you so desire. If you want me to include any extras such as a chapter excerpt, etc. I'm happy to.

8. Two different Monday dates you'd like to see it up (in case one is already taken).

Alright. I think that covers it. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hope to feature your book soon!
